Looking In Her Eyes

As I sat in front of her, I couldn't help but observe the physical changes. Her thinning hair, aging face and wrinkles, have never failed to bring across the endless fervor and energy within her. As she speaks, her wrinkled hands gestured animatedly, attempting to stress her points in our conversation. 


She's independent and truly strong-willed. Brought up at an era where women were breaking away from the norms of traditional roles at home, she personifies confidence and strength. She has always believed that a woman should never limit herself to what is expected by society, but should continually strive to give the best and do whatever it takes for the betterment of herself and the family.


She may be critical at times of the decisions we make, but this concern is always with cause. At times, she may be misunderstood for being petty or irrational, but she has every reason to, because she carries with her a big responsibility to ensure that we are always at our best and heading on towards the right direction, God willing. She hides her sorrows and disappointments with silence, and smiles, to make sure that we continue to face life with confidence and positiveness. Even as age is catching up on her, she doesn't bow easily to tiredness and is continually on the move, constantly filling up her time with continuous learning  towards spiritual enhancements. Her prayers are always filled with love and hopes for us. She has made me realize, that a woman's love and sacrifice for the family and the people we love is worth every moment - hoping for nothing more but God's Grace and Blessings.


She is my mother. May God protect and keep her safe always.

**Writer's Note - writing this actually made me choke with tears. Didn't realize the feelings that I have for her is so strong and it has been embedded so deep inside for so long. I'm so thankful that God have made me see this... so that I can learn to be a good Mom to my children.
